At the “Retail Media Live” event, OBI announced a major realignment: The OBI First Media Group (OFMG) will now operate under the name OBI Advertising. With this rebranding, the company is underscoring its technological maturity and accelerating its international expansion.

On January 27 OBI acquired a majority stake in Enovato GmbH, the owner of 42watt. With this step, OBI is once again underlining its strategic development into a holistic solution provider for its customers in all matters and projects relating to their homes.

OBI refers to reports in Russian and German-language media about OBI's withdrawal from Russia. The OBI Group as a company withdrew completely from Russia very quickly after Russia's attack on Ukraine in 2022.

OBI continues its growth strategy: In Germany, 15 new locations will open in the first half of 2026 with a total of five franchise partners. This underscores OBI's strategic expansion and further emphasizes its clear goal of becoming Europe's first port of call for home and garden products.

The OBI Group is taking over its stores in Switzerland that are currently being run by franchise partner Migros, and is adding a new location in Ticino. In addition, the business is embarking on expansion by taking over the two major Do it + Garden stores situated in the west of the country.

OBI GmbH & Co. Deutschland KG has a new franchise partner: With effect from 1 January 2025, the long-established company Gillet Baumarkt GmbH, which is located in Landau in Germany, will become part of the franchise family of the Wermelskirchen-based group.

From 1 August 2023, Brigitte Wittekind will become part of the Board of Directors at OBI Group Holding SE & Co. KGaA. Rounding off the group of members led by Chief Executive Officer Dr Sebastian Gundel, the 44-year-old will take up the position of Chief Operations Officer (COO).
